A short fantasy adventure game in Decker. Featuring Mages, trans people, a hot lesbian blacksmith, and the inexplicable existence of video games in an otherwise fantasy setting.

Created in Decker for Deck Month 2

The "save" system is somewhat experimental - attempting to load a file that is not something saved by the game may result in undefined behaviour.

Feel free to download the unlocked deck if you want to poke around - I left in some of my development notes if you want to see them.

Such a cute game, thanks for sharing it!! Also more people should put song reccomendations at the end of their games wth that's such a good idea

(+1)

In an ideal world I'd have that song playing over the credits haha!

Love the color palette! Your art is very cute, and the writing is great too. Very cool!

(+1)

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it :3

Really neat game! I like how the game details how trans people can stick together and help each other, as well as all the other anachronisms (I was a beast at Wii Sports Resort fencing so I want my sword license now). Also love that the sound that plays when Gwendolyn leaves her house is the opening notes of Kiss From a Rose by Seal lol. Great job!

Oh dear it wasn't consciously Kiss From A Rose *embarrassed noises*

But on the anachronisms, I'd argue I didn't specify a time period except that it's clearly not our own world so who's to say that video games can't exist? Is it any less plausible than mages?

(+2)

On that second point: makes sense to me! I didn’t mean it as a criticism to be clear, I love it when anachronisms make their way into genre stories (this is a completely different breed but Alex Cox’s Walker is one of my favorite movies). I’m kind of tired of traditional fantasy/sci-fi/all the standard genre stuff so this kind of stuff is appreciated. I would destroy Mark in Wii Sports Resort fencing though.

This was great! I'm glad Gwendolyn got to tell of the jerk at the archives, though she should have threatened her with a sword too.

Good job!

"I take drugs from the internet and I've been feeling, feeling better!"

(+1)

But then I'd have had to write even MORE different branching scripts depending on if you'd got the sword at that point or not! ;)

I am glad you enjoyed and that the song recommendation vibes with you :3

Charming and some super cool features! Quirk factor off the charts!

(+2)

:3 thank you!

slapz

(+1)

thank you! (that's a good thing right?)

(+3)

Really enjoyed getting a sword license from Ye Olde Gamestop. :p

Feelings of longing over the unpurchaseable Eggbug plush in the item store...

(+2)

We all miss Eggbug dearly!

(+3)

This was pretty cool, I always enjoy how you handle the transitions between cards. And oh, a save system, I'll definitely check the code on that.

(+2)

The main trick with the save system is how you structure the stuff you want to save/load to begin with - like if you keep things organised it's way easier to save it all out and load it back in.

(+4)

Cute and heartwarming! I like that you didn't shy away from real issues despite the fantasy setting. Also, really impressive Decker work in general! It's so cool how you built such a complex system (even a save system!) inside it!

(+2)

I figured I want to write about trans people and I kinda figure it's unfair on us in real life if in the fantasy world there's just no problems.

(+3)

"Gwen can sword" haha!

that was great :3

(1 edit) (+2)

yay I'm glad you enjoyed!

Gwen CAN sword!
